Bots and fake profiles: how to spot them

Updated November 2026

The short version

A bot is in a hurry: within seconds it sends you a link, asks you to go to another site or to pay for something. A pre-recorded video doesn't react to what you say. Spot any of these signs and move on.

The most common signs

The ten-second test

Ask for something simple and unpredictable: «can you wave with your left hand?» or «what time is it there?». A real person reacts naturally. A recording doesn't.

Where you'll find most of them

On text chats and fully anonymous chats, where nobody checks who comes in. In my test on CooMeet I only met real girls who responded to what I said: one of the reasons for the score in the review.

What to do when you run into one

  1. Don't click links or download anything.
  2. Move to the next conversation.
  3. Report it if the chat lets you.

Everything else: video chat safety.

In my test on CooMeet I only met real girls. See for yourself: the trial is free.
